Food and Nutrition Services Staff
Job Summary
Food and Nutrition Services Staff shall prepare and serve resident's meals using proper food handling techniques. Meals shall be prepared according to the approved menu and recipes which are on file within the food and nutrition department. Food and Nutrition Services Staff shall maintain appropriate cleanliness and sanitation to prevent the occurrence of food illnesses.
Educations
Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
Qualifications
1. Six (6) months previous experience in dietary services preferable but not essential.
2. Knowledge of quality food preparation and food service.
3. Must have some knowledge in the use of food service equipment and related cleaning equipment.
4. Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and willingness to work under supervision.
5. Adheres to all company policies and performs task in a timely and efficient fashion.
6. Must work as scheduled each week, working weekends and holidays as needed.
7. Is courteous in working with residents, families and employees
8. Maintains a neat, well-groomed and professional appearance at all times.
9. Has appropriate health certificate as required by local, state, and federal health departments.
10. Must demonstrate ability to follow policies, procedures, practices and direction without the direct supervision of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
11. Must demonstrate the ability to function as a cooperative team member with all disciplines in the facility.
12. Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, and perform task despite frequent interruptions. Keeps an open line of communication with other department members.
13. Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination as required by the state the Food and Nutrition Services Staff is employed
Responsibilities
1. Adhere to directives of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Administrator, or Director of
Nurses.
2. Must keep the Food and Nutrition area clean and in a sanitary condition.

3. Wash and clean dirty dishes, trays, utensils, and equipment within the food and nutrition department.
4. Prepare meals according to approved menus and recipes.
5. Organize tray assembly and meal service.
6. Report any equipment problems to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
7. Maintains food and supplies and reports supply inventory to the Director of Food and Nutrition
Services.
8. Maintains department equipment to ensure proper cleanliness and function.
9. Checks and maintains food temperatures, dish washer and refrigerator temps as per policy.
10. Stores food appropriately and discards items as necessary.
11. Maintains resident confidentiality.
12. Prepares foods consistent to resident specific diets and restrictions.
13. Performs other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services or the facility Administrator.
11. Attends and participates in facility meetings.
12. Participates in Quality Assessment and Improvement Program
13. Participates in Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Program
14. Reports immediately to supervisor and administrator situations involving abuse, neglect, or suspicion of a crime.
15. Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, HIPPA Standard, and Computer
Usage Agreement.
Professional Requirements
1. Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
2. Completes educational requirements per policy.
3. Maintains regulatory requirements.
4. Occasional travel/overnights required for training, professional meetings, emergencies, and evacuations.
5. Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
6. Wears identification while on duty.

8. Completes work in designated time frames.

3. Lifting Handling: Occasionally. Worker will be lifting/handling supplies to do inventory, restock, ordering, supplies, preparation of meals, tray line, cleaning equipment, washing dishes, etc.

7. Pivoting/Turning: Frequently. Worker will be pivoting and turning to stock supplies, supplies, preparation of meals, tray line, cleaning equipment, washing dishes, etc..
8. Crouching/Stooping: Frequently. Worker will be crouching/stooping to assist with supplies, preparation of meals, tray line, cleaning equipment, washing dishes, etc..

Job Location
Must work throughout all nursing areas of the facility. May require working irregular hours and may be exposed to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, medical preparations, toxic substances and occasionally ionizing radiation. Occasional travel/overnights for training, professional meetings, emergencies and evacuations.
