What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Resident Care Coordinator position at Legacy Place Cottages?
I. Position Summary
The primary function of the Assistant Resident Care Coordinator is to ensure residents are receiving quality care and to provide support to the Resident Care Coordinator and Director of Wellness. This is a middle management position and requires supervision of caregivers and med techs. This position requires 40 hours a week primarily working from 11PM-7AM, including every other weekend. The Assistant Resident Care Coordinator will be on-call every third week. In addition, this role will require shift coverage in the event of staffing needs.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
Resident-Directed Care Functions
· File necessary paperwork for resident charts
· Update and monitor shift duty books
· Create and update nursing schedule
· Update new staff training binder and monitor completion. Training sheets should be returned to administrative assistant when an employee completes training.
· Stock resident rooms with incontinent supplies and chart in Google Drive for both PC and MC
· By 4:00PM on each Monday, update nursing supply needs in Google Drive
· Assist RCC and DOW with RASPs and DMEs
· Oversee switching resident charts at the end of the calendar year
· Prepare resident paperwork in advance of physician’s visit
· Prepare paperwork for dentist, podiatrist and dermatologist visits
· Ensure we have necessary paperwork for any caregiver coming from an outside agency (background checks, etc.)
· Update Notify to reflect any staffing changes.
· Monitor Notify response time and any other concerns relating to responding to resident call bells. Make DOW and RCC aware of any concerns.
· Observes and reports changes in a resident’s condition to Resident Care Coordinator and Director of Wellness promptly
· Documents daily care-giving activities and related findings
· Keep linen closet organized. Treat any stained linens and update administrative assistant of any linens which need to be ordered
· Maintains confidentiality and privacy of the resident
· Manages and administers medications according to state regulations
· Obtain COVID script and insurance for new residents and provides this to lab
· Orders COVID tests as needed for staff and residents
· Coordinates COVID pick up schedule with lab
· Alert management to any positive COVID cases
· Print COVID results for residents
· Order COVID testing supplies as needed
· Create COVID testing bags
· Supervise caregivers and med techs
· 40 hours a week in the building. Primary shift will be 11PM-7PM including every other weekend
· On-call every third week beginning Monday morning, ending the following Monday morning.
· While on-call, the phone will be kept on you at all times and calls answered immediately. Any issues that cannot be handled over the phone, will require you to come to Legacy. This includes responding to resident needs as well as staffing needs.
· Supervises employees by addressing concerns in a professional manner.
· Flexibility in schedule to cover shifts as needed.
· Attends and participates in ongoing training and educational classes
· Attends and participates in staff meetings as needed

Education and/or Experience:
· Must have a minimum of high school diploma or GED certificate
· Must complete annual training as required by current regulations
· Must maintain FA/CPR certification
· Must maintain med tech certification

· Ability to read and write fluent English
· Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from residents, families, employees.
· Ability to handle concerns or issues with residents, employees and families in a professional manner. Communicates using the coaching skills of active listening, pulling back in emotionally charged situations, giving clear and direct feedback without blame or judgment and exploring options to problem solving.
Reasoning Ability:
· Ability to use problem solving skills to assess variables in standard situations
· Ability to use critical thinking and common sense in understanding standard situations
· Ability to interpret and communicate a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
