Job Summary:
The Healthcare Activities Assistant is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of engaging and meaningful lifestyle programs for residents in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care. This role assists in planning, coordinating, and facilitating programs that promote residents' physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The Healthcare Activities Assistant plays a vital role in fostering a stimulating and fulfilling environment by encouraging resident participation and ensuring activities align with their interests, abilities, and overall wellness goals. Duties and responsibilities will be completed while demonstrating behaviors that align with our Communitys Service Excellence philosophy and core values.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in planning, scheduling, and executing daily, weekly, and monthly lifestyle programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of residents in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care.
- Leads and engages residents in individual and group activities, ensuring inclusivity and resident-centered programming.
- Encourages resident participation while adapting activities to accommodate various levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Supports the organization of holiday celebrations, themed events, and special occasions by helping to plan, coordinate, and execute programs from start to finish, including setup, facilitation, and cleanup.
- Assists in decorating common areas for holidays, seasonal themes, and special events to enhance the community atmosphere.
- Builds positive relationships with residents and their families to foster engagement and participation in activities.
- Communicates with residents to gather feedback, assess interests, and tailor activities that align with their personal preferences and wellness goals.
- Ensures a warm, welcoming, and interactive environment by promoting a culture of hospitality and respect.
- Works closely with the Healthcare Activities Manager to ensure activity programs align with overall wellness initiatives.
- Assists in coordinating interdisciplinary efforts with nursing, therapy, dining services, and other departments to enhance the resident experience.
- Aids in tracking and documenting resident participation to evaluate program effectiveness and identify engagement trends.
- Assists in coordinating and accompanying residents on community outings, ensuring safety and adherence to transportation protocols.
- Helps facilitate access to off-site experiences that promote socialization and independence.
- Maintains accurate records of resident attendance and participation in programs.
- Assists in updating resident activity plans and contributes observations related to changes in participation, mood, or engagement to the interdisciplinary care team.
- Protects resident confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining professional discretion in all communications.
- Collaborates with team members to ensure seamless execution of daily activities and events.
- Assists in maintaining supplies, equipment, and program materials, ensuring activity spaces are organized and accessible.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall well-being and quality of life for residents.

- Works across Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care settings.
- Adapts activities to residents' varying cognitive and physical abilities.
- Engages in diverse environments, including indoor, outdoor, and off-campus outings.
- Manages a fast-paced workload, multitasking while remaining responsive to residents' needs.
- Performs physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and assisting residents with mobility.
Qualifications:

Educational Requirements and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or certification in recreation therapy, gerontology, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in senior living, healthcare, recreation, or activities programming preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to engage residents of varying needs.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Experience in event planning, creative programming, or wellness initiatives is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Attention to Detail: Must be able to follow specific rules and schedules, as established by supervisor, based on resident needs
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work in a polite, respectful, caring, calm, and compassionate way
- Strong time management: Must demonstrate ability to organize self to ensure resident schedules are met accurately

- Basic proficiency in using computers, tablets, and activity charting software to document resident participation.
- Ability to use email, scheduling tools, and digital resources for activity planning and communication.
