Description
- Administer medications to residents according to their individual service plans, upholding the residence's philosophy and protecting resident privacy.
- Verify the six 'rights' of medication administration: right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, and right record/documentation before assisting with or administering a medication.
- Document all medication administrations accurately on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), following the residence policy.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart or cabinet.
- Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the residence philosophy, policy, and procedure.
- Promote and protect residents' rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with administering medications to residents as directed by the Wellness Nurse or supervisor.
- Follow established procedures for medication administration, documentation, and disposal.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members regarding medication-related information.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Report any concerns, questions, or errors related to medication administration to the supervisor or Wellness Nurse.
Requirements
- Experience in caregiving to older adults preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Friendly, caring disposition.
- Required medication training.
- Integrity.
