Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating and project management. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can effectively analyze project specifications and collaborate with our sales and production teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Position Description
The Estimator is required to review requests for quotes (RFQ’s), Legacy Sign drawings, other sign shop drawings and architectural drawings to determine materials and labor required to produce an accurate production price for the members of our sales team. This includes but is not limited to the engineering of the support steel and foundation, how much and what type of material is needed, the availability and source of the materials, the labor required by each department to produce, and the labor and equipment required for installation. It is also the estimator’s responsibility to run a cost analysis of every finished job and compare it to the estimate to determine profitability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Estimator
· Work with the art department and sales team to advise on the proper materials, construction techniques and the best application of materials and sign types to be used.
· Review drawings to understand what is to be made and can it be made.
· Change any of the materials as required or notify the sales rep that the product can’t be built as drawn or specified.
· Engineer the support steel and foundation so the cost can be determined.
· Calculate all the materials that will be needed in the estimate including the lighting system, outsourced items and outsourced labor and equipment.
· Determine what materials need to be ordered out of house and then get current price quotes to be used in the final estimate.
· Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to get the best price and delivery of materials needed.
· Manage and document all vendor and contractor pricing used in the estimate.
· Have a working knowledge of all our inventory available and how it should be applied and used.
· Have a working knowledge of all our installation equipment and how it should be applied and used.
· Produce a clear and accurate estimate for the sales staff.
· Produce a cost analysis on all completed jobs and adjust future pricing as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Working knowledge of Excel
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
- Proficient with the estimating and inventory modules of Square Coil.
- At least 10 years of sign manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
- Can multi-task and use time efficiently.
- Detail oriented.
- Must be able to multi-task effectively.
- Basic to advance computer skills.
- Proficient in math, can convert feet/inches & fractions to decimal numbers.
- Communicates clearly and effectively.
- Is capable of translating industry terminology into straightforward terms for explanatory purposes.
- Must be reliable, hardworking, and punctual.
