Position Summary: The Dean of Discipline at our Christian High School plays a pivotal role in fostering a Christ-centered environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and positive behavior. The Dean is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive disciplinary program that aligns with the school's mission and values. This role involves working collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and administration to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disciplinary Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the school’s disciplinary policies and procedures in alignment with Christian principles.
- Manage student behavior and enforce school rules consistently and fairly.
- Investigate disciplinary incidents, gather information, and determine appropriate consequences.
- Student Support:
- Counsel students on behavior, discipline, and personal issues, providing guidance that reflects Christian values.
- Work with students to develop behavior improvement plans and monitor their progress.
- Collaborate with teachers and counselors to provide support and interventions for at-risk students.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding student behavior and disciplinary actions.
- Work closely with teachers and staff to create and maintain a positive school culture.
- Participate in faculty meetings, staff development, and other school functions.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of disciplinary actions and student behavior.
- Prepare reports on disciplinary matters for the administration and school board as required.
- School Safety:
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent bullying, violence, and other disruptive behaviors.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement and community agencies as necessary to ensure a safe school environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a teaching or administrative role within a school setting, preferably in a Christian school.
