Tool and Die maker
The position involves an elevated level of accuracy on intricate work. An eye for detail is critical and care for quality is essential as we pride ourselves on being a quality conscious company. Legacy builds and maintains a wide range of precision progressive dies for thin metal stampings.
Experience with progressive dies. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently as well as work well with others.
Duties will include:
- Interface engineering to conceive new tooling
- Design and build everything from simple gauges to complex progressive dies
- Retrofit and upgrades of existing tooling
- Patience to build and maintain very tight tolerance clearances to ensure near burr free product
- Lead machine shop colleagues in diagnosis and regular maintenance of existing tooling
- Change or supervise colleagues to change dies from one setup to another.
- Need experience in using various machines (milling; lathe and grinding machines)
- Intricate Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, and gauges
- Maintenance of all tools and measuring instruments
Minimum Requirements
- Dependable attendance record
- Motivated self-starter
- Must have own tools
- Multi-tasking in a demanding environment
- Good technical knowledge of drawings; equipment and machinery
- Excellent trouble shooting skills
- Ability to create tool and die drawings in CAD an advantage
