Job Summary:
The Director of School Improvement leads efforts to enhance educational outcomes and cultivates a culture of continuous improvement. This dynamic role includes implementing best practices and research-based strategies for schools identified as requiring targeted support for school improvement using the state’s accountability system. Key responsibilities include guiding school leaders on the implementation of their improvement plan goals, monitoring their action steps, and ensuring professional development support is planned and implemented to directly support the school staff and affect student achievement. The position requires a leader with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of educational policies, and the ability to work closely with both school leadership and Superintendent to drive academic success. The Director of School Improvement will lead initiatives to enhance educational outcomes and champion a culture of continuous improvement. This role involves providing instructional coaching and support to school leaders, facilitating professional development, and guiding school leaders to implement effective strategies that drive academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop the network’s school improvement plan.
- Oversee the effective implementation of the network’s school improvement plan including the project management of several key initiatives that support improvement
- Implements and validates the network’s process for campus targeted support for school improvement.
- Assists Tier 3 schools in building capacity for school improvement.
- Guides school leadership in implementation of the school improvement plan.
- Assist Tier 3 in the development of a CSP.
- Coordinates with staff across departments and functions who are responsible for implementing the school improvement plan to ensure seamless integration of initiatives across schools.
- Identifies qualitative and quantitative data to assess performance and drive goals and decision-making.
- Provides regular updates to the Superintendent on strategy activities and achievement data.
- Maintains a focus on assessing and selectively incorporating evidence-based strategies to support school improvement.
- Identifies and coordinates with external partners who are responsible for delivering key services to schools and students.
- Collaborates with Superintendent and school leadership to develop, implement and/or obtain and provide needed resources, services, and materials for students in alignment with the school improvement plan.
- Maintains a current knowledge base in the areas of curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing achievement gaps, effective management and communication strategies, all applicable federal and state regulations, and all local district policies and procedures.
- Design and deliver professional development focused on best practices in teaching and learning.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification and administrative credentials preferred.
- Preferred 3 years experience in school administration or instructional coaching and school improvement.
- Experience with and a strong track record of turning around schools.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of systematic planning practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Background Checks:
- Arizona - New employee is required to obtain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety before first day of employment
- Nevada - New employee is required to complete and pass a 7-year criminal history check with Universal Screening as well as submit a completed FBI fingerprint form from B&D Fingerprinting Services before the first day of employment
- Texas - New employee must complete an FBI fingerprint background check with IdentoGO if a background check is not currently on file with the Texas Department of Public Safety before first day of employment
Physical and Travel Requirements:
- This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
- This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
- Local, in-state travel required. In-state visits weekly or more as needed.
