Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality patient care and support in a clinical setting through working up patients and performing diagnostic testing for the doctor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient care practices, and have the ability to communicate effectively with both patients and healthcare professionals.
Duties
- Perform diagnostic testing for comprehensive eye exams and medical follow ups.
- Check visual acuities, peripheral vision, intraocular pressure, muscle movements, eye alignment, color vision, and stereopsis.
- Dilate patient's eyes.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
- Prepare charts for the day's patient exams.
- Train patients on contact lens wear.
- Maintain stock in exam rooms and contact lens room.
- Assist with correspondence letters for referrals.
- Collaborate with colleagues and doctor to provide personalized, high-level care.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
Requirements
- Previous experience in patient care or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic physiology is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems is an asset.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and staff.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in retail sales or optical settings is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients at all times.
