Legal Specialist [Hybrid - Cupertino]

Legal.io is working with a top tech company in Cupertino, CA to hire a hybrid Legal Specialist (Privacy and Law Enforcement Compliance) with a background in litigation support (litigation legal secretary or paralegal) for a multi-year contract. This role requires someone to be on-site in Cupertino Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Role Details:

• Anticipated Start Date: Immediately
• Schedule: 40 hours per week - This will be an ongoing, likely multi-year contract
• Pay Rate: $35/hr - $55/hr ($70k - $110k annualized)
• Benefits: Medical, Vision and Dental insurance
• Location: Cupertino, CA - Hybrid (in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

Job Responsibilities:

• Intake and respond to criminal and civil subpoenas
• Evaluate and respond to law enforcement requests in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, in accordance with the law and with the Company’s various policies and procedures
• Help determine how the Company will respond to the subpoena and/or data information request
• Communicate verbally and in writing with law enforcement personnel, Company employees, in-house counsel, and others
• Assist in the identification of patterns and trends that might be evident from the processing of certain law enforcement requests
• Communicate process questions from law enforcement, government agencies, and internal/external parties, both in writing and over the phone.
• Analyze and process legal process documents and requests within departmental operating procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years supporting discovery requests and litigation
• Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials
• A strong work ethic, exceptional judgment, and uncompromising integrity
• Strong understanding and handling of sensitive information and privacy protection.
• Knowledgeable about the United States legal system, and able to identify the various types of legal process, e.g. subpoena, court order, search warrant.
• Able to differentiate between federal, state and local government and law enforcement agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience at a tech company (tech savvy individual)
• Preferred candidate would have a litigation background either as a junior paralegal / paralegal, or a legal secretary.
