Legal Services of Long Island has a staff of over one hundred people situated in three offices across Long Island.OFFICE LOCATION : Suffolk County (Islandia Office).Job Description : Full-time staff attorney, specialized unit representing persons applying for or contesting cessation of benefits under the federal disability programs (S.S.I. and S.S.D.).Duties : Representing clients through administrative appeals at the Reconsideration, administrative hearing, and Appeals Council levels; representation of clients on appeals of adverse decisions in federal court; drafting prehearing memoranda; interviewing clients and completing client intakes; providing advice and counsel; keeping time records; and participation in community legal education.START DATE : ImmediateSALARY : $68,250-$94,811 DOE, union scale. BENEFITS : Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability (100% of the premium covered by employer), 403b with defined contribution, Student Loan Reimbursement (amount subject to collective bargaining agreement) at 1-year anniversary.REQUIREMENTS : Admission to New York State Bar.
