Role

We are looking for an exceptional and skilled Data Scientist to join our growing team and become a key driver of our company’s success. As our first dedicated Data Science hire, you’ll play a pivotal role in building data-driven insights that directly influence our product and strategy. You’ll collaborate closely with our Data Engineering team, ensuring your work integrates seamlessly into our systems and delivers measurable value.

This role requires someone who thrives on turning data into action, is able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and has a strong track record of solving complex problems with a product-first mindset.

This is a remote-first position but people within commuting distance of Brooklyn will be prioritized - we like to get together to connect and catch up.

Your Background

Programming Languages : Strong proficiency in Python, with experience managing and manipulating large-scale datasets.

Data Architecture : Familiarity with modern data architecture, including data lakes, pipelines and cloud-based platforms.

Product-focused Mindset : Proven ability to deliver Data Science solutions that drive measurable product and business outcomes.

Statistical and Machine Learning Knowledge : Experience serving predictive models in production. Solid understanding of statistical methods, machine learning techniques and best practices in data management.

Analytical Mind : Analytical experience validating and understanding experimentation results.

Collaboration and Communication : An exceptional ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences with clarity and confidence.

Fast Learner : You quickly learn new concepts and easily pick up new skills.

Determination : You love challenges and persist when problems become complex.

Passionate : You’re passionate about politics and increasing government transparency.

Bonus Points

Familiarity with working in a startup or similarly dynamic environment.

Experience with or a keen interest in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks or other cutting-edge AI and data science technologies.

Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role.

Familiarity and experience with querying and processing tools like Airflow and Spark.

Experience building with and deploying to AWS (or similar cloud infrastructure such as GCP).

Proficiency with tools and platforms for visualizing your results, ensuring insights are actionable and clear.

Compensation

170,000 - $190,000 Annual Salary
