Lab Computing Specialist (Contractor)

Legend Biotech is seeking a Lab Computing Specialist (Contractor) as part of the IT team based in Somerset, NJ.

Role Overview

The Lab Computing IT Specialist will manage, maintain, and assist in the operation of our GxP and Non-GxP labs IT capabilities in Somerset, Piscataway and Philadelphia laboratories. This individual’s responsibilities will include coordinating the end to end process to on-board an instrument system into a laboratory from procuring the computer as per vendor specifications, connecting to network, configuring the instrument with vendor, risk assessment, and qualify as per GxP procedures (if applicable). In addition, the ideal candidate will assist in developing a strategy and implementation of the supporting systems to manage the instrument lab computers and their data capture, including but not limited to operating system and security software patches, and scientific data management.

Key Responsibilities

• The critical nature of these systems requires the appropriate support to ensure a highly stable, secure and reliable computing environment
• This role will provide support management to the lab computing (benchtop) environment
• Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, timely execution of work, collaboration with scientists, IT colleagues, and vendors are essential to ensure maximum productivity for the bench scientist as well as to ensure the integrity of both the laboratory data collected and the systems used to collect the data
• Collaborate with scientists, vendors, and IT colleagues on new systems implementation, integration and administration
• Participate in the installation, documentation, and testing of instrument systems
• Deploy or update data management tools for backup and archive
• Evaluate solutions to manage the benchtops to ensure that they are secure and reliable. Conduct Proof of concept and define strategy for the implementation of the solution.
• Evaluate solutions to manage the data collected from instrument systems are stored and can support data analytics initiatives. Conduct Proof of concept and define strategy for the implementation of the solution.
• Aid in troubleshoot and assist in technical support of both instrument software installed on benchtops and connectivity between benchtop and instrument
• Contribute to development of SOP or Work Instructions for the area
• Perform the necessary risk assessment and qualification protocols to support the GxP applicability of the instrument system
• Coordinate with engineering, facilities, and quality teams to ensure the timely installation, commissioning, and qualification of laboratory instruments and IT systems.
• Assist in updating any knowledge base articles.
  
  
  

Requirements

• BS degree with 7 years’ experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry
• An understanding of laboratory science in the pharmaceutical industry
• Installing, configuring and supporting systems and applications in lab environments
• He/she should demonstrate an understanding of the need for standards yet also have a willingness to look for new, more effective strategies to support and improve the laboratory computing environment
• Experience supporting standalone or enterprise GxP computerized systems and/or applications
• Commitment to Quality
• Project management skills
• Ability to work on multiple complex projects where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations
• Demand Management Skills - Ability to take initiative and prioritize objectives from multiple tasks; adhere to scheduled timelines while maintaining flexibility, independently or as part of a team. Self-directed with a high degree of professional integrity, very organized, and detail oriented
• Must have knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and of computer systems validation (CSV)
• Proficient knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Applications (Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word) and/or other relevant software programs.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential. Must contribute to a team based, collaborative and positive environment, clarity of purpose and high commitment to business goals.
