THE ROLE
The Bartender for the Maryland Club is based out of the XFINITY Center in College Park, MD, and reports to the Beverage Manager. This position plays a vital role in delivering exceptional member experiences by creating high-quality cocktails and beverages, ensuring excellent service, and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the bar area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the setup, cleanliness, and breakdown of assigned bar area.
- Maintain expert knowledge of drink recipes, menu offerings, and the proper preparation of cocktails and beverages.
- Provide a welcoming, fun, and professional experience for all members and guests, adhering to Maryland Club service standards.
- Ensure the proper handling of cash, credit card transactions, and POS systems in accordance with Legends Hospitality policies.
- Follow all alcohol service policies, including those set forth by Legends Hospitality and Maryland / Prince George’s County laws.
- Engage with members and guests, anticipating their needs and providing tailored recommendations for drinks or menu pairings.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure appropriate stock levels, informing the Beverage Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Support special events and private functions by providing bar services as required.
- Assist with menu planning and beverage program development, including seasonal offerings and member-exclusive cocktails.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless operations and uphold the Maryland Club’s high standards of hospitality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty at the highest level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of bartending experience in a high-volume, upscale environment.
- Must hold current alcohol service certification (e.g., TIPS, TAM, or state-specific equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of mixology, wine, and beer, with the ability to create and adapt cocktails.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with members and guests.
- Strong verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the club’s schedule.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to providing a premium member experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a private club or fine dining establishment.
- Knowledge of beverage program development and menu planning.
- Familiarity with inventory management and ordering processes.
Compensation
Hourly rate, commensurate with experience, and eligibility for overtime. This role may be eligible for Legends’ comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid vacation, and access to a 401k plan.
