Job Title: CNC Machine Operator

Position Classification: Non-Exempt - Hourly

Job Summary:

The CNC Machine Operator performs various tasks to cut foam and other material with a CNC Machine.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Education & Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age to perform this job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Obtain orders from coordinator or supervisor.
• Locate and deliver the correct foam type to the saw based on order specification using buggies if needed.
• Place material on the CNC conveyor. Align material to the left.
• Position the material properly on the saw table.
• Load the appropriate program into the machine computer according to proper size, material etc.
• Turn the blade on.
• Using the appropriate buttons, drive the blade to the correct starting position.
• Begin the program and allow the material to be cut.
• Drive the running blade back to home position and turn the blade off.
• Remove the cut pieces and scrap from the saw.
• Place pieces and scrap into buggies and carts respectively. Deliver buggies and carts to designated areas.
• Mark pieces and order upon completion. Change the saw blade as needed. (This is done by maintenance personnel).
• Ability to understand & operate CNC machine.
• Responsible for understanding & performing lockout/tagout procedures.
• Follow all safety rules when operating machine.
• Follow & perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Ability to operate hand knife when machine is down.
• Responsible for housekeeping duties in the work area.
• Responsible for understanding & following lockout/tagout procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• Good mechanical aptitude

• Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Quantity - Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.

• Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
