What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at Leggett & Platt?
This position involves coordinating routes for drivers, communicating with customers to ensure they receive their shipments on time, and handling any issues that may arise during transport. The Dispatch Supervisor must be proficient in using technology to manage logistics, including GPS systems, dispatch software, and communication devices.

- Review manifest for revisions or corrections.
- Distribute all Manifests and Work Orders to the Shipping Supervisor.
- Assist the Routing Coordinators as needed.
- Report all internal and external customer complaints by e-mail to the Traffic Manager.
- Assist the Traffic Manager as needed.
- Adhere to safety, EEOC, OSHA and company policies.
- Provide the main communication link that informs the truck drivers of their work schedules.
- Ensure there is adequate personnel and equipment for loads.
- Research and coordinate backhauls and delivery of loads.
- Enforce compliance with Leggett & Platt and State and Federal DOT regulations.
- Continuously observe the process in his/her area of responsibility and immediately notify the department supervisor of any suspected nonconformance.
- Prepare reports as directed – Daily and Weekly.
- Will need to be on call during the weekends as needed.
- Maintaining and updating call logs, incident reports, and other records of dispatch activities
- Maintain contact with all clients as well as outside vendors inclusive of issue resolution.
- Suggest safety measures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and prevent accidents.
- Has the authority to do the following:
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities related to product, process and/or the system.
- Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system:
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels;
- Verify the implementation of solutions;
- Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Must have medium computer skills.
- Must have some basic math and writing skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented and well organized.
- Must be able solve problems and work with internal and external customers over the phone.
- Must be able to work well with a diverse group of individuals to achieve the common goals of Branch 6014.
- Must have geographical comprehension.
- Must work well under pressure.
