What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Leggett & Platt?

As a Quality Manager you will have the opportunity to oversee the quality process to ensure consistent standards. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring all products meet customer expectations and demands. So, what will you be doing as a Quality Manager?
- Coordinate and direct the LP 9000 Management System of the facility.
- Effectively supervise Quality Technicians.
- Work closely with all management personnel.
- Travel, as needed: customer visits, L&P locations, and vendors.
- Work closely with customers and suppliers.
- Have a clear understanding of all processes.
- Monitor processes.
- Gather and analyze data.
- Must have an understanding of studies performed (capabilities, R&R, MEA).
- Analyze and process return merchandise.
- Handle day-to-day employee relations.
- Conform to all Quality/Safety requirements and procedures.
- Keep a clean and orderly workplace.
- Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Process.
- Stop the production of nonconformities related to product, process, and the system.
- Initiate action by recommending or providing solutions.
- Verify any action that prevents nonconformities is working.
- Follow up, as necessary.
- Understand, follow, and assist in the training of Inspection Plans, Work Instructions, and Procedures.
- Work closely with all levels of the company (Branch, Division, and Corporate).
- Participate in training programs.
- The LP 9000 Management System Representative.
- Assist where needed in the efficient day-to-day operations of the plant.
- Participate in Total Productive Manufacturing Process, 6S and ECO Processes.
- Perform other duties assigned by the General Manager.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity related to product, process, and the system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
- Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Must have a good understanding of safety procedures, LP 9000 Management Systems, statistical process control, and continuous quality improvement process.
- Ability to effectively lead a large group of people in a manufacturing environment.
