So, what will you be doing as a Sr. Engineer, Platform Integration?
- Develop and prototype new component platforms with a strong focus on modular design, manufacturing methods, value streams, and best total cost.
- Perform initial product designs that integrate into the existing portfolio, address internal and external customer needs and align with the BU’s capabilities and strategic objectives.
- Serve as the go-to North American technical expert for complex component product development, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver innovative, practical, and profitable solutions.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, technical proposals, and design presentations using. Generate bills of materials and technical specifications for proposed designs.
- Resolve design and / or production challenges with a proactive, analytical approach.
- Stay informed of global industry trends, technology advancements, market needs, and competitor activities to enhance product offerings and drive innovation.
- Serve as a technical expert for sophisticated projects and cross-functional teams, supporting seamless implementation and fostering strong relationships.
- Partner with branch operations and engineering teams on product design projects to optimize alignment with manufacturing capabilities and improve likelihood of frictionless commercialization.
- Participate in team three year strategic process and annual goal setting.
- Effectively collaborate with cross functional teams both within the BU as well as in other L&P BUs for project execution, best practices, leveraging resources, etc.
- Manage project risks to ensure successful outcomes. Establish and track milestones using established NPD process. Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively implement corrective actions.
- Ensure product solutions meet design criteria of internal and / or customer teams. Foster environment that drives the level of detail and responsiveness customers require.
- Develop near and long-term plans for continuous improvement that will increase productivity and effectiveness via standardization, advanced methods/technologies, tools, and processes.
- Support efforts to create and maintain a WFG BU innovation pipeline. Contribute to the development of the innovation strategy and technical roadmap, guided by market and customer research. Partner with the rest of the PD&L team and other L&P BUs for new technology development and introduction.
- Contribute to product and platform development roadmaps in collaboration with Category Management team for business unit product portfolio. Establish technical design strategy and implement plans in conjunction with VP of Innovation strategy and WFG leadership and engineering managers.
- Drive intellectual property activity to protect new innovations and optimize patent related investments. Partner with corporate legal resources to accomplish.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 10 years of product engineering experience; preferred experience in design work, new product development, new product project management and/or similar space.
- 5 years of cross-functional team leadership experience, either direct or in a matrixed environment. Global and / or dispersed team leadership experience preferred (direct or indirect reports).
- Experience designing and engineering durable goods products.
- 5 years of new product development and launch experience that includes utilization of project management techniques, standardized new product development process, project management strategies, KPIs, quality metrics, etc. Preferably in manufactured product environment (plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, die cast, etc.)
- Prior project management and technical leadership experience on large projects.
- Experience leading technical teams tasked with translating design requests into actionable, technical requirements.
- Experience working with suppliers on component and system development, quality plans, PPAP process, etc.
- Language requirements – ability to speak English.
- Willing to travel internationally.
