Both of our schools offer a safe and supportive learning environment with high-quality staff, active and engaged learning, youth voice and leadership, and a quaint, peaceful environment. Student population is small, which assures that our children get the attention and help they need to be successful as adults in this 21st Century world. All of our graduates meet A-G requirements and we are increasing our CTE options. The Leggett school was originally established in the 1930's as part of Fort Bragg Unified School District, becoming an independent district in the late 1980's. Leggett is the “Gateway to the Redwoods” and is surrounded by State Recreation areas and State Reserves. Medical services and shopping are located to the north and south within one-half hour’s drive. Leggett Valley School is located at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 101. It is walking-distance from the world-famous Drive Thru Tree. The beautiful Eel River weaves around Leggett Valley School, a common pastime for locals and passersby. "Never Don't Stop" at the Peg House down the street for yummy food and drinks! Whale Gulch School is one of the most unique schools in California. Started out of a yurt by parents that were concerned with long travel time for their students, Whale Gulch has grown into a beautiful campus that houses K-12 students. A majority of our students at Whale Gulch come from Shelter Cove. Shelter Cove is the entrance to the Lost Coast wilderness. One of the most beautiful places in Northern California.
