What are the responsibilities and job description for the NYC Political & Corporate Leadership Fellowship position at Legion Outreach Consulting?
Legion Outreach Consulting is an award-winning, history-making political/corporate outreach consultancy specializing in non-traditional door knockers and phone bankers. Legion amplifies and activates the will of the people through political, issue-advocacy, and public interest campaigns. Headline after headline, our team continues to secure wins for our clients and their issues. Our team hails major victories from COVID-19 frontline outreach, rolling out the nation’s largest curbside composting program, and deep canvassing in political swing districts.
Led by a team of military veterans, political operatives, and corporate strategists, Legion is one of the fastest growing political startups in America, with over $25 million in revenue and zero investors. We are looking to develop the next generation of leaders, and reward our prospects for their merit.
The Program:
5-10 fellows will be selected per Window and be paid a stipend to learn and work directly with Legion’s clients and leadership team. Successful graduates of the program will be ranked and rewarded with tiered incentives ranging from internships with Opportunity Partners such as current elected officials, program certificates & letters of rec, and even employment opportunities.
Legion’s CPO and VP of Campaigns & Strategy will consist of the program’s cadre. Fellows will learn about political campaigns and corporate outreach and be trained by Program Cadre in core competencies needed to excel and lead through bi-weekly classes. Fellows will demonstrate their proficiency through experiential learning opportunities, directly participating in current field campaigns across New York three times a week. Participation activities will range from HR, outreach, logistics, planning, communications, and more. Program Cadre will evaluate while continuing to educate through two assessment phases that coincide with the two major phases of a primary cycle. Fellows will become integral parts of some of New York’s hottest elections, get an insider’s understanding of the political landscape, and learn about the consulting industry.
How & Who:
Legion will select 5-10 fellows for each round through a highly selective application and interview process: our first application window is from February 3rd through February 13th, accepting applicants from ages 18-25 in NYC (and Long Islanders willing to commute). Our second window is March 31st through April 11th, accepting applicants from NYC (and Long Islanders willing to commute) high schoolers ages 16-18.
Applications must include short video essay, resumes, short writing submissions, and letters of recommendation. Selected applicants will be invited to interview with Legion’s leadership team (Program Cadre). Applicants will continue to compete through two rounds of interviews with Program Cadre; invitations to the final interview are contingent upon performance in the first round of interviews. Acceptances and onboarding will occur on Feb 14th (Window 1)/April 14th (Window 2), with program orientation starting on Feb 17 (Window 1)/April 21 (Window 2).
Window 1 applicants must be already registered OR eligible and willing to register to vote as a Democrat or Republican in the state of New York. Window 2 applicants must have working papers and US work authorization.
