| JOB SUMMARY |
Lehi City Water Department is currently seeking applicants for a paid GIS internship. This position performs a variety of professional and technical duties related to maintaining and building the GIS. Works under the general supervision of the GIS Coordinator. This is a seasonal/internship position of approximately 40 hours a week, with a minimum time commitment of 30 hours a week.
| RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Use Trimble R10 and ArcGIS Field Maps to collect GPS data of new and existing water utilities (sewer, storm drain, culinary and pressurized irrigation).
2. Use ArcGIS Pro to edit and create features.
3. Assist in collecting storm drain invert data pulling manholes and using story pole.
4. Assist in aerial surveys by collecting Ground Control Points and/or piloting Phantom 4 RTK.
5. Provide support for field workers using ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Explorer.
6. Assist the GIS Coordinator to prepare, revise, and provide, as necessary, a variety of maps and digital data required by Water Department Staff.
7. Operate light vehicles such as pickups.
8. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and Experience: Has completed at least three (3) years of college coursework, with a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours directly related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); basic knowledge of computer software, hardware; familiarity with G.P.S.; basic knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.
3. Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time. Work may periodically require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
4. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
5. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
