JOB SUMMARY
The Material Handler is responsible for manually loading materials from the warehouse to the Production buildings. The heaviest is 50 pounds to lift manually several times. The Material Handler will drive the box truck locally to deliver products between company buildings (less than 4 miles apart). The Material Handler will also load and unload the truck by hand or use warehouse tools and equipment and place the materials in the appropriate location for processing. The Material Handler will also move the materials within the production areas and make them ready for production without delay. Forklifts are sit-down, stand-up, electric and gas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lots of lifting and moving products by hand or pallet jacks.
- Obeys traffic laws and follows established traffic and transportation procedures while driving.
- Verifies the contents of loads and follows Good Manufacturing Practices as well as Food Safety while transporting the materials.
- Load and unload truck and move products to and from storage or production areas, by hand or using trucks, hand operated pallet jacks, forklifts or other equipment.
- Sorts bulk product before loading and unloading.
- Records numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
- Checks continually for damaged products, removes the damaged boxes and notifies manager.
QUALIFYING SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to be forklift certified – we will certify
- Must have 5 years clean driving records and driving experience in the USA
- Must be at least 25 years old due to insurance requirement to drive the box truck
- Must be able to perform considerable use of arms and legs and move the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Must have good interpersonal relationships to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships across the business.
