Summary:
The Manager of Wellness, Intramurals, Recreation, and Sports Clubs assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Wellness programs, intramural activities, recreation events, and Sport Clubs. In addition, the Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of intramural leagues and recreation activities, health, wellness and nutrition programs for students, faculty and staff. Programming includes diverse and engaging activities, seminars, and workshops with a focus on nutrition, wellness, healthy lifestyles, recreation and physical fitness. The Manager of Wellness, Intramurals, Recreation, and Sport Clubs will also coordinate work with the other Manager of Wellness, Intramurals, Recreation, and Sport Clubs to provide support to each other.
Wellness includes fitness, mindfulness and nutrition and reaches student, faculty, and staff populations. Use of college facilities (E.g. Wellness Center) as well as community resources external/natural (E.g. Trexler Nature Preserve) and internal facilities (E.g. Indoor Sports facility) to implement a complete body care routine. Identifying, developing and maintaining community partnerships with educational, health care, or vendors for nutrition, equipment, and lifestyle are also to be included. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the Wellness Center and Cougarcade operations.
Intramural Activities includes team and individual competition events. Intramural includes student populations, but may from time to time include faculty or staff participation as well. The Manager is responsible for overseeing marketing/advertising; scheduling facilities use; roster teams or competition ladders; registration and communication on rules and play.
Recreation Events includes group and individual non-competitive type events and reaches student, faculty, and staff populations. (E.g. Hiking, Biking, Walking, etc.). Use of college facilities (E.g. Wellness Center) as well as community resources external/natural (E.g. local park system) and internal facilities (E.g. Indoor Sports facility) to implement a complete activity routine. Identifying, planning and maintaining community partnerships with educational, health care, or vendors for nutrition, equipment, and lifestyle are also to be included.
Sports Clubs includes team sports where an active and passionate group of individuals wishes to form a team and compete against other club teams at other institutions. The Manager is responsible for overseeing marketing/advertising; scheduling and request facilities use; roster teams and waivers; registration and communication on rules and play.
At all times, the Manager promotes student and student-athletic success with a key focus on engagement and retention. Some weekend and evening work hours are required. Must be able to travel to all LCCC sites and external locations where activities and events are scheduled to occur. Reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business, Legal Studies, and Social Services.

- Coordinate marketing/advertising of Wellness, Intramural, Recreation, and Sports Club activities and events for Lehigh Carbon Community College including but not inclusive; College Voice, Portal, Newsletters.
- Represent assigned program area at meetings and special events, including Open House and Welcome Week.
- Organize wellness and recreation-specific camps for high school, middle school, and elementary students in coordination with the academic or program staff.
- Assist with event, activity, and equipment set up, care, take down.
- Promote events and programs; write and issue information through College Voice and College Social Media and feature stories.
- Plan, implement, and promote intramural/recreational programming with attention to best practices and industry standards for inclusion and safety for all participants.
- Develop, implement, and promote a holistic health and wellness program that includes diverse fitness, recreation, nutrition, and wellness activities designed to enhance physical and mental health.
- Manage and supervise all operations and daily usage of the recreation facilities and fitness center, intervening as needed to assist visitors and participants.
- Instruct others in proper operation of fitness equipment, such as weight machines, exercise bicycles, benches, hand weights, and fitness assessment devices.
- Conduct surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness, intramural, and recreation programs, events, or services.
- Seek and cultivate collaborative partnerships with community organizations that offer programs related to wellness, intramural, recreation, and fitness as per student needs and interests.
- Generate usage reports to evaluate programming opportunities and utilize data to recommend new activities and initiatives.
- Monitor the condition of recreational and fitness facilities and equipment, maintaining safe and clean environments, and recommending purchase, repair, and maintenance as needed.
- Closely monitor the implementation of policies and procedures for the utilization of recreation facilities and wellness center. Recommend enhancements as needed.
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and monitoring compliance of departmental policies and procedures, staff handbooks, and student-athlete handbooks
- Maintain current knowledge and trends of developments in Wellness, Intramural, Recreation, and Sport Clubs model.
- Supervise, schedule and evaluate student workers for wellness center and athletic events.
- Maintain safe environments and ensure that all student workers attend annual safety and CPR trainings.
- Perform related duties, as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution in Physical Education, Sports Administration/Management or a related field.
Certifications
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
Work Experience
- Minimum of two years’ of administrative experience providing Wellness, Recreation, Intramural, and Sport Clubs activities, including efforts to support the academic success of students.
- One year of experience supervising the work of others.
