MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Respond to all actual, potential or simulated aircraft, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), structural and EMS incidents at Lehigh Valley International Airport and make decisions determining the best method of response.
- Serve as driver/operator of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles at Lehigh Valley International Airport.
- Drive and maneuver vehicles to the most advantageous position for aircraft rescue. Prevent and/or extinguish fires and rescue aircraft crew and passengers.
- Operate pumps and perform firefighting, rescue and salvage operations.
- Perform all required duties to prevent or extinguish aircraft or structural fires, rescue, emergency medical services and resuscitation while in the presence of hazardous work conditions, or in the operation of hazardous materials, equipment, vehicles, or other types of rescue operations.
- Respond to medical emergencies involving airport patrons and/or employees.
- Inspect fire apparatus, tools and emergency medical equipment and maintain in good working condition.
- Perform inspections of buildings, structures, fueling facilities and fueling vehicles for fire safety hazards and the elimination of such hazards.
- Maintain fire station and surrounding areas in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition. Work with other ARFF employees on an assigned shift schedule.

- Able to work 12 hour shifts Day/Night
- Required to work a minimum of 12 hours a month
QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma/GED
- Fire Fighter II Certification
- Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Certification preferred
- Pennsylvania EMT Certification
- Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certificate
- NIMS ICS-100, ICS-200 and ICS-700 Certificates
- Minimum of 3 years of Interior Firefighting experience
- Valid PA driver’s license
- Thorough knowledge of the operation and use of fire equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to independently analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action.
- Must have good communications skills.
- Must have a professional attitude and appearance and demonstrate courteous and ethical behavior.
- Work as an integral team player interacting positively with other employees and contributing to regional and LNAA goals.
- Must establish and maintain security clearance in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration guidelines for unescorted access at the Airport.
