What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector - I position at Lehigh Valley Plastics?
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Utilizes a full range of precision tools and special purpose instrumentation to measure dimensions. Perform complex calculations to determine angles, tolerances, and other specified measurements. Audit work orders to QMS standards. Sort and segregate non-conforming material. Manage MRB to look for trends in quality and production non-conformances.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs incoming, first piece, in-process and final part inspections per QMS
documented procedures
2. Interprets engineering drawings and process instructions to determine quality and
reliability standards.
3. Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing
standards.
4. Recommends modifications of existing quality or production procedures to achieve
optimum quality within limits of equipment and staff capacity.
5. Evaluate process’s and looks for opportunities to improve quality on production parts.
6. Record dimensional measurements for Quality Coordinator to review and input into
PPAP or FAI documentation.
7. Review non-conforming materials and RGRs with Engineering and Production
representatives; conduct root cause analysis and suggest CAs or OIs to supervisor as
appropriate.
8. Participate in company CAs and OIs.
9. Evaluates in process paperwork to ensure ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
10. Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity of ISO 9001: 2015.
- Knowledge of production and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of raw materials, manufacturing equipment, measurement and testing instruments.
- Knowledge of industry calibration requirements and good practices.
Communication Skills
- Ability to train and communicate quality standards and procedures to production employees.
- Computer based and handwritten data entry and reporting.
Work Environment/Equipment
- Shop Environment; operate related inspection, material transport and production equipment as applicable.
- Safety shoes and safety glasses required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing; Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
