JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Machine Operator
Reports To: The Machine Operator reports to the shift supervisor.
Position Summary: With minimal oversight, the Machine Operator is responsible for operating their assigned extruder during all phases of product production. Phases may include feeding the extruder, extrusion, pelletizing, analysis of conditions, winding, packaging, and use of other machines such as a forklift. Our Machine Operators can assess and identify out-of-spec conditions and products during all phases of production and are responsible for maintaining all records associated with the equipment, the process, and the product. Our Machine Operators are efficient and detail-oriented while operating at maximum efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The ability to stage and load raw materials while maintaining the integrity of the material, and without interrupting the flow of the raw materials.
2. Correctly package, weigh, and label the finished product without contamination.
3. Follow all accepted work methods and comply with all relevant SOPs.
4. Monitor machine performance to ensure the machine is running properly and producing quality output.
5. While monitoring, record and report conditions of the product and process specifications to the Shift Supervisor or others, in a timely manner.
6. Perform required in-process testing for quality control and take action, as required, to prevent or stop the production of out-of-spec products.
7. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with all aspects of applicable ISO quality control standards.
8. Identify tasks that need attention during down times.
9. Follow all safety protocols including the use of PPE.
Requirements:
1. Basic math skills equivalent to those of a high school graduate.
2. Ability to obtain Performance Compounding’s in-house forklift operator license.
3. The Machine Operator must be available to work the second shift (3:00 PM-11:30 PM).
4. Must be able to wear PPE on their face and/or arms for long periods of time.
5. Ability to successfully complete the Machine Operator training within 3 months of hire.
6. Must be willing to relocate or reliably commute to Pawcatuck, CT upon accepting a job offer.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the Machine Operator stands for a total of seven hours during their shift which includes walking up and down stairs. Staging and feeding the extruder requires the Machine Operator to be able to lift up to 65 pounds on a regular basis.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job during the summer months, the employee may be exposed to high temperatures up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
