What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator position at Leicester Central School?
OVUU is accepting applications for two positions:
1. Part time paraeducator to begin working at Otter Creek Academy. The work week will total 22 hours. Schedule to be reviewed and determined with the Principal. Position is for the remainder of the FY25 school year only. No rights of renewal for FY26
2. Full time paraeducator to begin working at Otter Creek Academy. The work week will total 35 hours. Position will have rights to contract renewal for FY26.
The Paraeducator is responsible for helping to provide academic and behavioral support to students as needed. This is to be accomplished in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Paraeducator will be responsible for supporting students within the classroom or community setting. They must ensure the development and safety of students and be respectful of the students and their parents.
The following qualifications are required:
Associates degree or equivalent
The following are preferred:
Previous teaching or related experience
Understands accommodations and classroom expectations while providing student support
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and RNESU requirements
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, parents, staff and members of the community
Ability to work harmoniously and collaboratively with others
Knowledge and experience with basic principles of child development, effective methods of dealing with children, and curriculum and instruction
