What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher - Long-Term Substitute position at Leicester Elementary School?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in the identification of students who are at risk of performing below grade level in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics.
2. Effectively consult with general education teachers regarding the learning needs of special education students, and modify and adapt the curricula, materials, and physical environment to meet the needs of individual students.
3. Identify, develop, plan, and administer targeted interventions to identified students.
4. Within inclusion or in a small group setting, provide teamed, small group, or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' Individualized Education Program and prepare/manage instructional materials required for the intervention program.
5. Work with individual students or small groups to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching their targeted academic goals and grade-level standards.
6. Complete diagnostic academic testing (formal/informal) as required
7. Keep student records and prepare required reports.
8. Adhere to the appropriate code of ethics and student confidentiality.
9. Participate in IEP Team meetings for students assigned or newly referred and develop/write goals and objectives for assigned students, including progress reports, within required timelines.
10. Act as Case Manager for designated students, communicating closely with parents and staff and preparing progress reports, annual review narratives, and individual education plans.
