Join the dynamic team at Leidos Health & Civil Sector as an Industrial Designer focused on Human Spaceflight, supporting the Human Health and Performance Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to sustaining human presence in space and aiding in the mission to return humans to the moon and beyond. As a crucial member of the Center for Design and Space Architecture (CDSA) team, you will specialize in human-centered design and utilize your skills in architecture and industrial design to create functional, intuitive solutions for human spaceflight challenges.
Your role will involve collaborating closely with engineers and scientists to ensure that your designs not only meet functional requirements but also integrate seamlessly with a variety of other systems. This position requires a designer who excels in concept and mockup development.
U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.
Key Responsibilities Include :
- Crafting innovative concept designs for equipment, hardware, or spacecraft that validate the feasibility of the concept of operations.
- Utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) to review and assess design effectiveness.
- Transforming CAD designs of spacecraft into full-scale mockups for Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing.
- Participating in the fabrication and building of full-scale mockups while observing astronauts as they simulate operations.
