Program Overview :
The Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract partners with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to advance network modernization for Defense Agencies and Field Activities. This initiative aims to create a cohesive digital enterprise that provides a robust infrastructure foundation and a unified architecture to enhance combat support capabilities for our warfighters.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee the performance monitoring of Layer-1 infrastructure assets, including Network Control Center, Switching, Routing, Perimeter devices (firewalls), Video, VoIP, Physical Cabling (including Wireless), and VIP support.
Proactively identify and resolve network issues to minimize service disruptions.
Implement effective problem management processes to facilitate swift resolutions of network issues.
Analyze root causes of network failures and take corrective actions to mitigate reoccurrence.
Direct the maintenance and upgrades of Layer-1 infrastructure components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling systems.
Ensure proper configuration and optimization of infrastructure assets for peak performance.
Monitor network security and enforce measures to safeguard against threats and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with security teams to address incidents and execute remedial strategies.
Develop and maintain relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers.
Negotiate contracts and monitor vendor compliance with service level agreements.
Maintain precise and current documentation of network infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
Prepare regular reports detailing network performance, incidents, and ongoing projects.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
Strong understanding of Layer-1 network technologies, such as Ethernet, Fiber Optics, and Wireless networks.
Experience utilizing network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of network security best practices and regulations.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
Experience with network automation and orchestration technologies.
Familiarity with virtualization and cloud computing solutions.
Certifications like DoD IAT II, ITIL foundation, or PMP.
Understanding of DoD Enterprise Service Management Framework.
In-depth knowledge of DoD Enterprise IT policies and procedures.
Ability to manage globally distributed 24x7 operations, including potential short-notice travel for operational needs.
A proactive mindset with a drive for innovation and continuous improvement.
Additional Information :
The Layer-1 Cabling Manager will report directly to the IT Service Delivery Manager and collaborate closely with other IT teams within the organization.
This role may require occasional after-hours work to address network maintenance and troubleshooting.

Compensation ranges from $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
