The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is excited to announce an opening for a Network Engineer specializing in Campus Area Network (CAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) engineering. In this role, you will be integral to supporting our global enterprise networks as we embark on a project to modernize our network infrastructure, ensuring optimal service delivery to meet our customer's critical mission requirements. This is a unique opportunity to lead the transition to a cutting-edge service provider network architecture.
Your key responsibilities will include :
Understanding and interpreting customer requirements to create detailed network designs that meet service delivery standards. You will document these designs thoroughly, including diagrams, bill of materials, and configurations.
Utilizing our private test lab for evaluating new technologies and capabilities, testing changes to production networks, and creating troubleshooting scenarios for our operational networks.
Coordinating maintenance windows to migrate legacy user connections to the modern infrastructure, minimizing any impact on vital data flows.
Providing expert technical support to operations engineers and technicians in troubleshooting and fault resolution, delivering innovative and scalable solutions to complex problems.
Designing secure networks that comply with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies, including obtaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices and software.
Supervising (without managing) network support specialists to effectively plan and implement network services.
Enhancing our design products, processes, and systems to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
This position primarily focuses on CAN / LAN but also provides opportunities to learn and work with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Required Qualifications :
Required Clearance : TS / SCI with Poly
Candidates should have a combination of education and experience totaling 16 years. This can include a Doctorate and 8 years, master's and 10 years, bachelor's and 12 years, associates and 14 years, or a high school diploma and 16 years.
Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 compliance (Security CE).
Experience specific to network engineering, including Tier III or higher network operations and / or network design and implementation.
Prior experience with production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and / or Juniper.
Hands-on experience with implementing and troubleshooting routing protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) in a production environment.
Experience with implementing and troubleshooting standard switching protocols like Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels in a live network.
Desired Qualifications :
Experience in network engineering and design specifically for CAN / LAN, including implementation of industry standards, configuration development, and integration into production environments.
Proficiency in MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
In-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols, with the ability to showcase this knowledge through documentation and presentations. Extensive experience with BGP is a plus.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently within a network engineering team, including experience in establishing processes, creating documentation, and organizing repositories.
