Leidos seeks a skilled Network Solutions Engineer within our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team to support a vital digital modernization initiative for DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies.
This position includes a Monday-Friday day shift, but flexibility for shift changes is essential depending on mission needs, including potential mid or swing shifts.
Clearance Requirement :
Must hold an active Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required).
Primary Responsibilities :
Design, maintain, and operate Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Wireless, Internet connectivity, and Network Security.
Maintain existing network equipment and install new equipment in various environments.
Optimize overall system performance and dataflow management.
Conduct data captures to assess network performance.
Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput using design analysis and performance monitoring tools.
Contribute to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture.
Develop, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain various network devices and methodologies.
Optimize connections between front-end and back-end components for seamless operation.
Gather and specify system / component performance and interface requirements.
Implement network solutions supporting server needs such as load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, and traffic shaping.
Be available for flexible work hours to support the team, including occasional on-call duties (typically one week every two months).
Basic Qualifications :
Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS).
Proficiency in TCP / IP, ACL, NAT, Policy Based Routing, SDWAN, QoS, VoIP, Wireless, DHCP, and DNS.
Extensive experience in troubleshooting network hardware.
Bachelor's degree with 8 years of network engineering experience; additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
Exceptional analytical skills with creative problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Strong commitment to documentation and organizational practices.
Able to multitask in a dynamic environment with many changing elements.
Must possess a DoD IAT level II baseline certification (e.g., Security ).
Preferred Qualifications :
Familiarity with wireless communications systems and electronic / wireless theory.
Proficiency with Cisco IOS and expertise in IP technologies and methodologies.
Advanced knowledge of IP principles.
Experience with devices such as Cisco routers, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco switches.
Experience with tools like Science Logic, Catalyst Center, or Ansible Tower.
CCNP Enterprise certification preferred.
Experience with DISA STIGs and network security implementations.
Skills in configuring and managing firewalls and security appliances for optimal performance.
