Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Project Manager who will work alongside lead engineers and account managers supporting various electric utility clients. The Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects nationwide.
This role may have remote capabilities, but candidates located near our local offices in Chicago IL, Detroit MI, Framingham MA and Charlotte NC or otherwise in the Northeastern US will be preferred. This allows us to best serve the needs of our localized utility clients and internal teams. Candidates must be located in the United States to be considered.

- Assist project teams in completing engineering design of various sized electric infrastructure projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utility customers; Experienced/Senior level candidates will have the opportunity to lead other project managers and play a role in program/portfolio management
- Be responsible for overall project performance and reporting
- Manage project costs, schedule and scope, including the development of recovery plans to stay within approved limits
- Ensure contract compliance
- Drive work products by coordinating and working with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables
- Ensure and document adherence to the quality control process
- Interface directly with the client and internal management to solve issues and report progress, costs, schedule adherence and risks across a program of projects
- Communicate with clients, internal project teams, multiple engineering disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel
- Assist with the preparation of bid documents, development of cost estimates and responses to Requests For Proposal
- Complete monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames
- Assist your team in identifying potential business development opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or a closely related discipline is required
- Mid Level Candidates: A minimum of 4 years of relevant Project Management experience; Senior Level Candidates: A minimum of 8 years of relevant Project Management experience
- Demonstrated Experience with project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project, P6)
- Experience with MS Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookup, etc) required
- Demonstrated experience managing project financials, proposals, scopes, and schedules
- Previous Experience working with various contract types including Fixed Price and Time & Material
- Must have the capability to plan, organize, direct, and track technical efforts on project tasks
- Must have the capability to understand, plan, monitor and report project financial performance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Candidates with previous experience in the electric utility industry and/or consultancy environments will be preferred
- PMP Certification is preferred but not required; Ideal Candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification within two years
- Excellent organizational skills, problem solving/analytical skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
- Operational experience in Microsoft PowerBI
- Previous exposure to projects for major US electric utilities
- Demonstrated success with a team approach to the consulting business
- Advanced use/expertise in Excel preferred
