Description

Leidos Defense Systems Uncrewed Systems Integration and Test Team currently has an opening for an RF Communications Signal Processing Test Engineer to work in our Huntsville, AL office. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of engineers to help DoD Uncrewed Systems pioneer new data communications technology ensuring mission success.

Primary Responsibilities

As an RF Communications Signal Processing Test Engineer, you’ll be an integral part of a dynamic engineering team that helps shape the future of advanced communication systems for the Department of Defense (DoD). In this role, you’ll conduct in-depth analyses and studies to provide critical insights and recommendations, empowering our DoD customers to make informed decisions on next-generation communication solutions. Your expertise will help guide government entities in designing and deploying advanced, cost-effective communication architectures that support and enhance the capabilities of the warfighter in real-world field environments.

Basic Qualifications



  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics with at least 4 years of relevant experience in RF signal processing, communications, or Electronic Warfare (EW) environments.

    Skills

    The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and demonstrated experience in the following areas:

    • Strong understanding of RF concepts, including RF testing, propagation, schematics, and link budgets, especially in relation to over-the-air signal detection.
    • Proficient in communications waveform modulation theory, including techniques such as PSK and QAM.
    • Knowledgeable in Forward Error Correction (FEC) methods, including LDPC, turbo codes, and Reed-Solomon coding.
    • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, including spectrum/signal analyzers, function generators, and oscilloscopes.
    • Experienced in radio testing in both laboratory and outdoor (e.g., field, flight testing) environments.
    • Skilled in processing and interpreting complex data sets, with proficiency in object-oriented MATLAB programming or similar analytical tools.

    U.S. citizenship, the ability to obtain and maintain a Final Secret Clearance, and eligibility for a Top-Secret required.

    Must be a resident of Huntsville, Alabama or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.

    Preferred Qualifications



    Experience and demonstrated skills in the following areas are a plus:

    • Strong foundation in waveform modulation theory, including techniques such as PSK and QAM.
    • Proficiency in signal modeling, filter and noise modeling, Fourier transforms, and general signal processing techniques.
    • Practical experience with Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) and LOS communication systems.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

    Salary : $85,150 - $153,925
