S-100 Unmanned Helicopter Operator

The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for an unmanned aircraft operator to work in our Huntsville, AL office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the unmanned aircraft system mission. In this mission we currently operate Group 1 and Group 2 aircraft. We are preparing to expand into Group 3 operations, specifically with the Schiebel S-100 platform. Primary

Responsibilities.

• This individual’s primarily responsibility will be to serve as an Unmanned Aircraft System Operator for the Schiebel S-100 unmanned helicopter. Primary tasks include flight operations at test ranges, as well as system operation for laboratory integration and test activities. Other tasks may include developing test plans, modifying aircraft, and creating custom flight profiles.
• When not supporting S-100 operations or testing, additional responsibilities may include operation of small (Group 1 & 2) Unmanned Aircraft Systems on various Government Contracts and Part 107 Commercial Operations.
• Leidos UAS Operators perform as remote pilots and serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on projects and programs that involve UAS flying or other related activities. Operators are expected to work closely with individuals of widely disparate backgrounds, including engineering, science, military operations, aviation and maintenance.
• Flight Operations are conducted in heavily regulated environments with complex rules and procedures; knowledge of regulations, risk and safety analysis techniques is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications.

• 8 years of relevant experience or 12 years of applicable industry experience
• Experience working with and operating the S-100 unmanned helicopter.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be U.S. Citizen with active Secret security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Currently qualified S-100 operator.
• FAA Part 107 Certificate
• Proven experience in unmanned aircraft and payload design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Relevant technical certification or degree preferred.
