Join the Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos as we seek a Network Engineer specializing in Campus and Local Area Networks (CAN / LAN) to enhance our global enterprise networks. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to modernizing network components and optimizing service delivery in a mission-focused operational environment. You will play a critical role in replacing a global enterprise network, providing design, engineering, and transitioning for diverse customer network requirements, paving the way for a modern service provider network architecture.
The role of the Network Engineer (CAN / LAN) will include :
Understanding customer requirements and applying standard design principles for effective service delivery. Comprehensive documentation of designs using diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and additional supporting documents.
Utilizing our private test lab to assess new technologies, test proposed changes to production networks, and recreate troubleshooting scenarios for the production enterprise network.
Coordinating maintenance windows to transition user connections from legacy systems to the modern infrastructure, ensuring minimal impact on critical data flows.
Providing technical expertise to Operations engineers and technicians for fault isolation and resolution, delivering innovative and scalable solutions to complex issues.
Developing secure network designs and configurations in alignment with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies, while obtaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices and software capabilities.
Guiding network support specialists in planning, coordinating, and implementing network services effectively.
Enhancing design products, processes, and systems to promote team efficiency and effectiveness.
This position focuses on CAN / LAN, with opportunities to learn and work on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Required Qualifications :
Security Clearance : TS / SCI with Poly
A total of 16 years of experience through education or work history. This can be achieved with a Doctorate and 8 years, a Master’s and 10 years, a Bachelor’s and 12 years, an Associate's degree and 14 years, or a High School diploma and 16 years of experience.
Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security CE).
Proven experience in network engineering, including Tier III or higher network operations and / or network design and implementation.
Demonstrated responsibility for production network hardware configurations for Cisco, Brocade, and / or Juniper.
Hands-on experience with implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols like Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) in a production setting.
Proficiency in implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.
Desired Qualifications :
Specialized experience in CAN / LAN network engineering and design, including adherence to industry standards, configuration development, and production environment integration.
Experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
Expertise in routing and switching protocols, showcasing knowledge through documentation and presentations. Extensive BGP experience is a plus.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent knowledge.
Ability to work autonomously as part of a network engineering team. Experience in establishing processes, developing documentation, and organizing repositories is beneficial.

Pay Range : $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
