Leidos Digital Modernization team is currently seeking a motivated Senior Router Network Engineer with proven experience to join the AFINC II contract supporting the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS) team in Montgomery, AL. The Router team oversees an enterprise DoD environment supporting the USAF that requires a unique and dynamic skill set. This position is 100% onsite at customer site at Maxwell AFB, AL. This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret to start.

What will you do in this role?

• Serve as a Router Team Operator for the 26th NOS.
• Oversee intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, boundary protection and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNet).
• Investigate and rectify malfunctions in network hardware and other systems to ensure service continuity.
• Meticulously monitor and manage all WAN circuits, ensuring optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to remote assistance requests from colleagues and service partners, providing expert technical support.
• Create and maintain comprehensive network support and implementation handover documentation for the Helpdesk.
• Manage assigned tasks and projects independently, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
• Provide backup support to other team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
• Undertake any other assignments or duties as directed by management, demonstrating adaptability and versatility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across multiple devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, and management systems.
• Understand and implement disaster recovery procedures.
• Experience interpreting, implementing, and assessing DISA STIGs
• Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
• Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
• Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
• Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
• Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate should have 7 years ofprogressively complex network engineering hands-on in:
• Enterprise network management, focusing primarily on Cisco devices.
• Installation, configuration, and support of network switches, routers, and wireless Aps
• Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet,GbEVLAN, and SONET.
• Experience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods.
• Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN implementation and management.
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
• Strong working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco products and solutions.
• Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco IOS platforms.
• Excellent network hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to understand the organization's goals and objectives and implement solutions to meet those goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and IP subnetting
• Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP)
• Knowledge and experience with Juniper platform are a plus.
• Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the year (2 weeks), dependent on contract needs and requirements that may arise.
• Experience in directly managing teams of diverse technical personnel responsible for the daily operations.
  

Education/Certification(s)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, science, engineering, or math with 4 years of relevant experience in Information Technology preferably within system or application administration is acceptable.

Pay Range

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
