Primary Responsibilities :
Install, configure, and troubleshoot Asterisk-based PBX / SBC systems, peripherals, and IP phones
Monitor the entire VoIP infrastructure and provide regular performance reports
Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to optimize VoIP systems
Ensure continual uptime, performance, and security of VoIP systems
Document and enforce VoIP standards to maintain quality
Travel OCONUS as required
Maintain VoIP system / network in our lab located in Chantilly, VA
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience OR Master’s degree and 10 years of experience OR 16 years of relevant work experience combined with college coursework and certifications
Extensive hands-on experience with VoIP systems, Session Border Controllers, and VoIP peripherals; eagerness to learn Asterisk
Proficient in managing dial plans, IVRs, SIP, IAX, RTP, DIDs, codecs, and other relevant protocols
Strong understanding of traditional telephony systems, including PRIs, BRIs, FXO / FXS, and circuit-switching
Effective knowledge of the OSI model, firewalls, IP routing, switching, VLANs, and QoS / COS concepts
Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and analytics tools
Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting servers
Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, such as Ubuntu and CentOS
Able to work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating professionalism with all stakeholders
Desired Qualifications :
Subject Matter Expert (SME) in VoIP telecommunications and associated protocols
Certification as a Digium Certified Asterisk Administrator (dCAA) and / or Digium Certified Asterisk Professional (dCAP)
CCNA / CCNP Voice certification
Experience working OCONUS
