The Digital Modernization Sector has an exciting career opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer in El Segundo, CA to support the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC), Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta, known as Kobayashi Maru. This role is instrumental in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of hybrid cloud infrastructure, and combines software engineering, systems engineering, and operations expertise to enhance the stability, scalability, and security of mission-critical systems, and is responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of cloud-based solutions, automating operations workflows, and implementing best practices for security and availability in a DoD-compliant environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Design, Implement, and Maintain Hybrid Cloud Solutions : Architect, deploy, and manage cloud solutions that integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.

Cloud and Infrastructure Automation : Utilize infrastructure-as-code principles to automate the provisioning, scaling, and management of hybrid cloud environments, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.

Use software engineering and systems administration to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of cloud-based applications and infrastructure

Use software as a tool to manage systems, solve problems, and automate operations tasks

Use software and automation to solve problems and manage production systems

Create self-service tools to improve user efficiency, availability, and performance

Ensure capacity management for the appropriate amount of resources for services to be scalable, efficient, and reliable

Forecast system demand and planning for capacity increases to ensure systems can handle expected and unexpected traffic loads

Incident Management & Performance Optimization : Proactively monitor cloud-based solutions and on-prem infrastructure for potential issues, implement incident response strategies, and optimize application and infrastructure performance to ensure high availability.

Collaboration with Development Teams : Work closely with development and operations teams to drive automation initiatives, troubleshoot system performance issues, and implement scalable solutions for both application and infrastructure needs.

Basic Qualifications :

Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

BS degree plus 4-8years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Certifications :

Must hold a DoD IAT Level II or higher 8570 / 8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security CE, CASP).

Strong knowledge of cloud computing technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) and incident management.

Solid understanding of security best practices in hybrid cloud environments.

Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Experience in managing and troubleshooting cloud-native applications and services.

Working experience utilizing Confluence and JIRA.

Your resume must demonstrate the following experience :

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with specific examples of architecting, deploying, or managing cloud solutions.

Experience with hybrid cloud environments, including integration between on-premises infrastructure and cloud services.

Proficiency with IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

Examples of automating infrastructure provisioning, scaling, or configuration.

Demonstrated ability to streamline code deployment processes to improve development cycles.

Implementation of cloud security measures, such as IAM policies, encryption, network security, and vulnerability management.

Proficiency in automation and scripting using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.

Proven track record of identifying, responding to, and resolving system performance issues.

Previous experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Administrator with a focus on hybrid cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Familiarity with DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) and other DoD-specific compliance standards.

Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.

Pay Range :

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
