The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos offers an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to support the Global Solutions Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at DISA. This dynamic role involves the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) as part of the DOD Information Network (DODIN). You will play a key role in transforming DISA's operational mission through innovative solutions, positively impacting DISA's mission partners.
Important Note : This position is primarily remote, but candidates must reside within commuting distance to Scott AFB, IL, or Ft. Meade, MD for necessary on-site support. A Secret clearance is mandatory, and you will need to obtain your Security certification within 14 days of your start date.
Position Summary
You will support the advancement and ongoing development of the DISA Software Defined Networking (SDN) solution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining SDN components.
- Support troubleshooting, incident management, and problem resolution as needed.
- Utilize technical knowledge to create solutions for routine technical challenges.
- Implement security configurations and system hardening measures for networking equipment.
- Maintain updated network diagrams and documentation.
- Communicate changes and planned updates to management, team members, and clients.
- Collaborate with GSM-O teams to obtain network configurations / templates and implement them in lab settings.
- Verify and validate SDN / NFV / Orchestration solutions within the GSM-O SDN lab environments.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites to assist with SDN and NFV infrastructure deployments.
- Regularly validate the SDN database by gathering data from various sources, including configuration management databases (CMDBs) and live router configurations.
- Manage and renew SDN port reservations in the CMDB.
- Inspect and compare router configurations against templates and baselines to assess readiness for SDN integration.
- Communicate configuration requirements for new capabilities to the software development team.
