Summary

Leisnoi Inc. is an Alaska Native Corporation with projects across the U.S. The Field Cost Accountant (FCA) reports to the Finance department while supporting the assigned Project Manager to ensure that contractual requirements are met and fully documented. The FCA is responsible for performing all cost control, scheduling, cost budgets, production analysis, and forecast functions relating to Leisnoi Diversified Kemron JV LLC’s Ottawa NPL-8 project. This position will be full-time onsite in Ottawa, IL.  Government contract accounting experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Perform a variety of general clerical tasks such as typing, filing, faxing, duplicating, and answering telephones
  • Prepare and reconcile daily cost reports 
  • Prepare and update the project burn schedule
  • Assist in establishing an effective Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS), schedules and project reporting
  • Procure materials and subcontract services as needed at the worksite, initiate subcontract agreements and purchase orders
  • Ensure that all purchase orders and subcontract agreements for project work are set up in the accounting system, preparing Change Orders as necessary
  • Utilize a 3-bid process for purchase to comply with contractual requirements
  • Bring problems to the attention of the Project Manager, Response Manager, Foreman, Safety Director or HR Manager
  • Provide periodic status reports and internal accounting reports to onsite and corporate project management team
  • Interface and work with the corporate project accountant to ensure accurate and timely cost coding, billing, collections, and revenue recognition.
  • Compare control estimates to budget and report any variances to management
  • Prepare and accurately enter timesheets into accounting system

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        Must possess strong mathematical and analytical skills

·        Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

·        Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule

·        Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all staff levels

·        Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and verbal instructions

·        Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency


Required Education, Training and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related field) and five (5) years project accounting experience required, or any equivalent combination of education/experience

·        Two (2) years of experience working on a construction or environmental remediation job site preferred

·        Must have demonstrable proficiency using Microsoft Excel to include pivot tables and creating complex formulas

·        Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered

·        Experience using Deltek Costpoint a plus


Work Context/Physical/Mental Requirements:

·        Primary work environment is a temporary office with some duties performed outside the office, to include running errands, onsite/outside communications with crew and/or management

·        Must be able to traverse on foot through project job site on possibly uneven ground

·        Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

·        Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times

·        Must read, understand, and follow applicable SOPs for specific task(s)

·        Ability to review, understand and analyze numerical data on project budgets and reports

·        Must have the ability to complete routine forms, and to compose letters, memoranda, and reports

·        Work is performed in an office setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. 


Special Requirements:

·        Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment and have a good driving history approved by Leisnoi’s insurance carrier in order to drive company vehicles

·        Must be able to pass an OSHA HAZWOPER physical exam and drug screening

·        Must read, understand and sign-off on Corporate and worksite Health and Safety Plans
