Activities Assistant/ Smoke Room Monitor
RATE: $15.50 Per Hour
SMOKEROOM JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide cigarettes to residents living in a nursing home environment 2 times a day in 4 separate smoke room areas designated throughout the building. Candidate would be responsible to escort residents outside in wheelchairs/broda chairs ect., provide cigarette and light/discard & clean cigarette disposals. Many residents need smoke aprons/extenders to prevent burns. Safety is of the utmost importance! You will be required to observe and watch each resident as they smoke while maintaining a calm environment for the other residents while they wait there turn.
This job requires you to be around cigarette smoke all day (wearing a mask is optional), push and pull residents of all sizes, maintain a log of each smoke session, clean and sanitize all aspects of each smoke room time after each session, take inventory of cigarettes every week, communicate directly and proficiently with Activities Director.
ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT JOB: Activities Assistants to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety of a group of people. Responsible for implementing tasks provided by Activities Director to build skills such as social, cognitive, and spiritual.

- Can engage residents and provide positive interactions
- Conduct 1:1 room visits
- Transport residents who need assistance to and from activities
- Maintain documentation as required by State and Federal regulations
- Reliable in regard to time and scheduling.
- Ideal candidate: Very responsible and reliable. Will not call out or show up late.
Schedule does not rotate/change
Monday: 9:30-5:30 (Smokeroom/Activities)
Tuesday: 9:30-5:30 (Smokeroom/Activities)
Wednesday: 1:30-8pm (Activities)
Friday: 9:30-5:30 (Smokeroom/Activities)
EVERY OTHER WEEKEND SATURDAY & SUNDAY
9:30-5:30 (Smokeroom/Activities)
MUST BE AVAILABLE 2 MAJOR HOLIDAYS WHICH INCLUDE THANKSGIVING/CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS DAY
A typical shift would be:
945am-11:45am (First Round of Smokeroom)
11:45am-12:45pm-Help serve lunch in the dining room
12:45pm-1:30pm-BREAK
1:30pm-3:15pm-Activities Program
3:15-3:30-Afternoon Attendance
3:30pm-3:45-Afternoon Break
3:45pm-5:30pm-(Second Round of Smokeroom)
