Summary
The Tax and Compliance Accountant position is responsible for preparing tax provision schedules, returns, payments, and reports. This position will identify tax savings and provide recommendations to better position the organization from a tax planning perspective. Tax exposure includes both domestic and international tax-related issues including insurance provisions and customs-related topics. This position will provide accounting support to the Financial Accounting area during month-end and year-end close related to tax provisioning, filings, returns, and various ad-hoc analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with outsourced tax preparation work
- Develop a roadmap for tax planning strategy
- Prepare documentation for tax regulation authorities (U.S. and Canada)
- Research and inform management of upcoming changes to tax regulations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all tax-related questions for the organization
- Maintain relationships with tax firms, insurance companies, and various other external parties
- Ensure the company is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee corporate registrations and filings with various states and provinces
- Perform standard month-end and year-end work related to tax provisioning and payments
- Prepare relevant documentation for external auditors and government entities

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. 3-5 years of related experience preferred. CMA or CPA is beneficial, but not required.
