Overview
The Shipping Clerk assists the Shipping Supervisor driving for results and excellence in accordance with company standards and goals.
This position is accountable for performing administrative support tasks; proofreading, typing, operating calculators, facsimile machine and computers.
The Shipping Clerk operates telephone switchboard to answer, screen, route calls and relays messages.
This position is responsible for quoting, booking and typing the bill of lading for outbound truck shipments.
Essential Functions
- Operates telephone switchboard to answer, screen, route calls and relays messages
- Performs data entry to log outbound truck shipments, orders, quotes and shipping information
- Quotes, books and types bill of lading for outbound truck shipments
- Works the obsolete report and unshipped order report
- Maintains strict confidentiality
- Contacts dealers to confirm orders and update warehouse instructions
- Other duties as required and assigned
Non-essential functions
- Performs petty cash duties
- Assists in the outgoing and incoming mail
- Assists in screening employees, visitors, and incoming phone calls
Required Qualifications and Education
- Previous experience in an administrative support capacity preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent level of professionalism
- Attention to detail
- Good organizational skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to work well independently and with minimal supervision
- Confidentiality is a must
Physical Demands
