Reports to : Tooling and Fabrication Manager
General Purpose :
The Tooling and Fabrication Technician / Apprentice is responsible for crafting, modifying, and maintaining precision tools, fixtures, machine components, and specialized equipment used in the manufacturing process under the supervision of the Tooling and Fabrication Manager. This role involves working with various materials and employing techniques such as machining, fitting, and assembling parts to ensure production runs efficiently and meets quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, fixtures, and machine components for manufacturing processes.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs to create or modify tools and components.
- Operate and maintain a variety of conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders. (CNC experience is a plus)
- Measure and inspect finished tools and parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools , fixtures and dies attachments to extend their operational life and minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay updated on industry developments, new technologies, and best practices in toolmaking and machining.

Most work is performed indoors. Some work may be performed outside in all types of weather. It is exposed to noise, vibration, dust, oil, solvents, dirt, and fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and or skin.
Salary : $20 - $26
