QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid teaching certificate obtained through the South Dakota Department of Education
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education
- Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention Training
- Teaching experience (preferred).
- Requirements to the above qualifications that the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
- Teach supplemental reading to students in small groups and/or individually.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to supplement the reading and math curriculum based on the needs of each student.
- Evaluate the student’s academic and social growth.
- Confer with parents and staff as needed, to discuss the student’s progress and the school program.
- Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement for students eligible for Title I services.
- Communicate with parents quarterly on student progress, at a minimum.
- Prepare and submit individual reports as needed and keep all other records required by state and federal regulations.
- Ordered and maintained inventory records of instruction materials as needed.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate with the Building Principal in the evaluation process in conformance with district policy and the Lennox Education Association Master Contract.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs as requested or assigned.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday as assigned or requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
