Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
As the company leader in Government Affairs and Policy, you will be responsible for developing and executing government affairs strategies in the United States and Canada to advance our policy and business objectives at the local, state, provincial, federal, and international levels. Leveraging your industry expertise and your deep understanding of policy landscapes, you will engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders and associations, and advocacy groups to shape regulations, legislation, and initiatives that impact our business and industry. You will work closely with the business on product and services strategies, in addition to serving as a resource for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies aligned with our business goals and values, with a primary focus on policy related to the HVAC industry (trade, refrigerants, efficiency, environment, tax, etc.).
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, provincial, federal, and international levels that may affect the HVAC industry, and provide in-depth analysis on their potential impact to Lennox. Be ready for action.
- Represent, build, and maintain relationships for Lennox with key policymakers, government agencies, HVAC industry associations, and advocacy groups to influence policy outcomes, drive desired results, and promote our interests.
- Represent Lennox in meetings, hearings, and forums with government officials, industry stakeholders, and other relevant parties to advocate for our positions and priorities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including engineering, legal, public relations, marketing, and product development, leading the alignment of government affairs efforts with overall business strategies.
- Lead the development and communication of the company's positions on legislative and regulatory issues.
- Provide analysis and strategic guidance on policy issues and developments to senior leadership, informing decision-making and resource allocation.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive advocacy materials, including policy briefs, position papers, testimony, and presentations, to effectively communicate our perspectives and recommendations.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in government affairs and public policy, and incorporate relevant insights into our advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Political Science, Public Policy, Government Relations, Law, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Prefer 10 years of experience in government affairs, regulatory affairs, public policy, lobbying, related roles, or equivalent experience with a focus on industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes and political dynamics at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
- Proven track record of successfully influencing bipartisan policy outcomes and building productive relationships with government officials and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and persuade diverse audiences, including members of Congress, senior Administration officials, senior executives, policymakers, and advocacy groups.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, work independently, prioritize competing demands, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to integrity, ethics, and compliance in all aspects of government affairs activities.
- Knowledge of HVAC industry associations (AHRI, HRAI, HARDI) a plus.
