Job Description
The Epigenetics Group is seeking a scientist who is passionate about leveraging epigenetics to create life-changing therapies for patients with degenerative diseases. The successful candidate will have expertise in molecular and cellular biology. S/he will work within Epigenetics and collaboratively with other company discovery, translational and clinical scientists to design experiments that probe multiple ‘omic dimensions (e.g., epigenome, transcriptome, proteome, genome,) to use creative analytical approaches to identify drug targets and biomarkers, and to generate insights into mechanisms of action.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrates keen knowledge of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and possesses the ability to rigorously analyze and assess results and generate clear reports
• Highly self-motivated, with excellent organizational, and oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrates independent scientific thinking, and is adept in problem-solving and adaptation of protocols
• Expertise in molecular cell biology including DNA/RNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, mammalian cell culture, and cell sorting
• Advanced skills in working with RNA, NGS library preparation and experience with the Agilent Bioanalyzer instrumentation and DNA and RNA assays and analysis are preferred
• Experience with chromatin/epigenetic techniques such as ChIP-qPCR and genome-wide chromatin occupancy as well as experience with are a plus
• Actively communicate with peer scientists to improve workflow, and identify and implement best methods for achieving group goals in a time-efficient manner
• Work under supervision of a staff scientist
Qualifications
A B.S. plus five years experience, or an M.S. plus three years experience in life science research, with a degree in cell biology, molecular genetics or a related discipline (background flexible). Industry experience a plus. Candidates with PhD's will not be a good fit for this assignment.
