From business intelligence and solutions for critical transportation infrastructure to planning and operating a safe, efficient, and reliable multimodal transportation system, the team connects people and markets across Minnesota.

As the Azure Cloud Application Developer, you will provide native Azure cloud application development for MNIT Services, partnering with DOT. This position provides technical expertise in the analysis, design, development, and maintenance of Azure cloud products to ensure that MNIT DOT Azure cloud applications and resources are robust, secure, shareable, reusable, and managed as strategic resources. This position is responsible for providing design, product management, development, implementation, maintenance and support for Azure cloud applications and services within DOT’s business application portfolio. This position provides native Azure cloud applications expertise and direction so that applications are designed and developed in a coordinated, efficient, consistent, and secure manner to MNIT DOT standards.

This Position Is Currently Eligible For Full-time Telework

• Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in Azure Cloud application design, development, and maintenance

Experience Must Include

• Technical knowledge and experience with Azure resources, programming languages, code libraries, and user interface standards.
• Technical knowledge of object-oriented programming and design, including .NET and C#.
• Technical knowledge of development and management tools, including but not limited to: Azure Dev Ops, GitHub, Visual Studio, and archetypes.
• Experience in Azure Cloud application development environments and tools, including Java Script, jQuery, XML, JSON, REST, SOAP, CSS, HTML, SQL Server, security, and monitoring.
• Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and applying techniques such as object-oriented programming, agile, iterative development, and rapid application programming.
• Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
• Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
  
  

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and technical design documentation.
• Knowledge and understanding of current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
• A solid understanding of Azure infrastructure management, data infrastructure management and their relationships to native Azure Cloud application development.
• A solid understanding of emerging trends in Azure Cloud development.
• Knowledge and experience in the development and hosting of Azure Cloud services and resources.
• Ability to describe complex technical concepts in an understandable manner.
• Ability to build constructive and effective relationships.
