Job Summary/Purpose

The official title of this position will be Mgr, IT - Service Delivery.

This position is for a Database Operations Manager .

The Database Administrator (DBA) team plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our enterprise database systems. The database operations manager is expected to lead a team of DBAs (both internal employees and contract resources) through daily operations and strategic initiatives. Working closely with other teams in a multi-vendor, multi-shore environment, the database operations manager must help to foster cooperation between teams to solve complex problems and continuously improve customer experience.

Education, Experience, And/or Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Advanced degree a plus.
  • 5 years of experience managing technology operations.
  • Strong understanding of database fundamentals and operations (particularly Oracle and SQL Server).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a geographically distributed and diverse team.
  • Experience with database security concepts and technologies, including role-based access controls, encryption, auditing, and threat/vulnerability management (TVM).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Microsoft, Oracle, or AWS certifications are considered a plus.
  • Experience managing technology operations in a cloud environment is a strong plus (particularly AWS).

Key Responsibilities

  • This position will require occasional after-hours support and management of an on-call roster which includes both employees and contracted support resources.
  • Support major events as part of the Incident Management process by providing strong leadership to support resources and clear communications to stakeholders.
  • Ensure vulnerabilities throughout our database fleet are managed in accordance with established policies/procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of compliance efforts and ensure a strong control environment is maintained (e.g., SOX, security, regulatory compliance, etc.).
  • Oversee all aspects of daily operations and ongoing project work (with the assistance of project and program managers).
  • Maintain an accurate cost forecast and adhere to budget targets (includes software/hardware licensing/support, payroll/expense forecasting, outsourcer contract management, and project cost management).
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in database operations in order to development and execute against a multi-year strategic roadmap.
  • Cultivate an environment of cooperation and continuous improvement and maintain constructive working relationships with customers across the enterprise.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with our strategic partners and service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize and manage workload in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT projects in an outsourced development environment.
